2022
proved to be another stellar year for the Civil War Chronicles. The Stones
River project helped encourage a lot of research this year which resulted in
208 new posts, up 12 from last year. Since the first blog posted in June 2017
that explored the relative differences in Kentucky cornbread versus Ohio
cornbread in 1861 Kentucky, 685 posts have followed exploring the story of the
war primarily through the words of the men in the ranks.
The focus of the blog changed a bit this year with a greater emphasis on weaponry and a broader inclusion of both Confederate accounts and eastern Federal accounts that I rarely explored initially. It’s been quite an enjoyable journey, and the positive response from the readers serves to inspire me to continue to explore and share those discoveries with all of you. The process of research and study has become a treasured part of my day and I thank all of you for enjoying it along with me. To help ring in the new year, let's revisit the top 20 posts of 2022:
